CLASSES SUKI TEACHES
The spectrum of classes that Suki can teach is
listed under Available Topics to the right. Below
you will find descriptions of some of the classes.
GARDEN WALKS
Many folks have asked for a herb walk in Herb Havens
garden. The focus will be on growing, gathering and
application of the many plants in the herb garden and
surrounding property of Herb Haven.
MEDICINAL HERB WALKS
Join me for a walk of discovery and wonder
as we travel through forest, field and garden.
The focus of this workshop will be on identification,
herbal preparation and many ways to use and
incorporate the medicinal plants of the season into
your lives. This workshop will be offered throughout
the spring and summer to allow you to observe the
growth patterns and meet the many plants emerging at
different times through the passing seasons.
ANNUAL WILD EDIBLE FEAST
A yearly favorite, we will spend the day identifying,
gathering and preparing an abundant wild edible feast.
North Carolina offers a large bouquet of medicinal and
edible plants available at this time of the year in their
most tender and tasty state. We will focus on storage,
usage and positive identification. Bring your questions,
interest and large appetite all will be satisfied.
COMMUNICATING WITH PLANTS, PLANT
MEDITATION, PLANTS AS TEACHERS
Join me for this experiential workshop. We will be
using our 6 senses to enter the world of medicinal
plants.
We can access
information directly
from the plants
themselves by going
into deep meditation
and opening up to the
messages and sensations
they offer us when using
our 6 senses as a tool for
communication. This
type of learning opens us
up to the psycho-
spiritual as well as the
physical uses of the
plants.
THE ART of PREPARING MEDICINAL OILS,
LOTIONS & SALVES
The medicinal plants available to us at this time of the
year make wonderful healing infused oils. This hands-
on workshop will focus on identification and cover the
techniques for gathering and preparing medicinal oils.
We will be making infused oils, preparing salves and
learning how to prepare creams and lotions to cover
many medicinal needs. Extensive hand-outs and a day
of fun to satisfy all.
THE ART of PREPARING PLANT EXTRACTS
(tinctures)
Join me for a day of preparing plant extracts or
tinctures. We will be covering the different techniques
for preparing tinctures from a variety of plants. Learn
how to prepare tinctures from fresh plants, dried plants,
roots, barks, leaf and flower. We
will cover the formulas for using pure
grain alcohol, vinegars and honeys. Learn
to make these wonderful plant preparations
for yourself and your families.
IMMUNE HEALTH
Lets prepare for the coming cold and flu season with a
evening class on building the immune system. We will
discuss and prepare Immune tonics, anti-virals and ways
to stay vital and healthy this coming year.
CREATING HERBAL HONEYS
Honey is a great base for many herbal syrups,
marinades and tonics. These infused honeys make great
HOLIDAY GIFTS for loved ones. We will prepare a basic
syrup, an infused medicinal honey and honey masks.
ADRENAL HEALTH
Lets walk into the New Year with an understanding of
the many medicinal herbs we have available to us to
support the adrenal glands. As many of us are feeling
run down and anxious this time of year...A Adrenal
Tonic is a great way to start off the New Year.
INSOMNIA
The focus is on the herbal allies, lifestyle changes and
dietary support needed for creating a deeper, more
efficient quality of sleep in our lives. We sample and
discuss the herbs specific for a deep, renewing sleep
experience.
HERBS and DIETARY SUPPORT for the COLD
& FLU SEASON
While sipping delicious herbal tea blends we discuss the
herbs that are specifically used to prevent and relieve
the symptoms of the common cold and flu.
HERBAL PROTOCOL for MENOPAUSE
The focus is on the herbs available to us for moving
through Menopause with ease, comfort and emotional
well-being. We can use this time to gather support
from others and the plants for a smoother transition
through this important change in our lives.
HERBAL PROTOCOLS for SUPPORTING a
LIVELY LIBIDO
We discuss the herbal allies for a healthy balanced
libido and enhance our experience of life and our self
expression.
